Wold Newton Parish Council

Michael Ellis (Chairman & current Warden of the Green) - I was co-opted on to the Parish Council in May 2023 having moved into the village in September 2022.  I grew up in Robin Hood’s Bay and went to secondary school in Malton.   I spent eight years in the Royal Navy and then several years travelling around the world in the early 1990’s.  After studying as a mature student I started working in local government in 1996 as a public rights of way officer at Warwickshire County Council and then at Kent County Council until taking early retirement last year. My wife, Michele, and I were fortunate enough to find a property in Wold Newton or as someone recently advised Wold Newton finds you!!  We are really happy living in the village and really feel a part of the community.  The welcome we have received has been absolutely fantastic.  We regularly walk Jack, our lively Parsons Terrier, up Forden Road to enjoy the view from Albie’s Seat.]  I look forward to working with my fellow Councillors to help the parish achieve all that it wants.

Nicola Walker - I have lived in Wold Newton for 35 years. Moving here as a young child i have seen some huge changes in and around the village. Never really realizing who puts the hard work and effort into the village. It is now my pleasure to be part of the committee that help make these changes happen. I live with my Husband and 2 sons and work on the Reception at Filey Surgery. On a weekend you will find me in the pub... helping Sheila in Kitchen to prepare her lovely Sunday Lunches. I joined the Parish Council in Oct 2021 and I am proud to be part of an amazing team of people who all work hard and are passionate about making the village the best it can be!

Shelly Watson (Treasurer and Vice Chairman) - I am a Chartered Accountant and have worked in practice for 25 years. Following my family’s move to Wold Newton in June 2021, I was pleased to join the Parish Council in May 2023, and more recently have taken on the role of Treasurer.  Wold Newton is such a wonderful place to live, and I look forward to supporting this fantastic community and working with my fellow Parish Councilors.

Thomas Skelton - I became a member of the Parish Council in 2023.  I have lived in the vicinity of Wold Newton since i was born and attended the village school. I believe that the village has a lot to offer and provides a warm and friendly atmosphere for residents.  I joined the Parish Council to help in any way that i can to preserve the village and its community.

Kerry LuckettI'm Kerry Luckett and live in Wold Newton and have lived here for 35 years . I work at Wold Newton school as a Pupil Support and also a Staff Governor . I joined the Parish Council to help support the village that I live in . I also work at the Pub which is the heart of the village so I feel I have a good relationship with the locals and am approachable to parents from the school and customers from the pub if they have any concerns or questions regarding the village or the Parish Council.

Susan Bridges  I moved to Wold Newton in February 2017 and prior to this lived in Wakefield West Yorkshire all my life. I trained to become a registered Nurse in 1984 and have had a long and successful career working in the NHS until I took early retirement in 2019. I have experienced many different aspects of healthcare both in hospital and community settings and my focus in the latter part of my career was as a Specialist community public health practitioner. Since retiring I have enjoyed every moment of my life in Wold Newton and believe it is a truly special place. The wonderful community we have is second to none and this inspired me to become a Parish Councilor in January 2023. I am dedicated to caring for our lovely village and will endeavor to achieve this in my role a Councilor.

Kyle Room - I relocated to Wold Newton in May 2024, having lived in York for most of my life. I began my career in the Travel & Hospitality industry in 2006, which led me to some beautiful places in our country and overseas. In my spare time I helped local communities with beach clean ups, animal sanctuarys and various other charitable organisations.  Since settling in Wold Newton, I've truly embraced the village's charm and its welcoming community. This inspired me to become a Parish Councilor in October 2024, where I am dedicated to supporting local projects and help make Wold Newton a great place to live.
